Satya Malas

Satya Malas is a collaboration between myself Margot, of Yoga Under the Bodhi Tree, and Satya, an artist and creator of crystal jewellery. My interest in crystals was sparked in earnest when I was loaned a large collection of crystals to experiment with during my yoga practice, my meditations and my mantra practice. Mantra (chanting) is a form of yoga which I teach called Naad Yoga (Brain Yoga or the Yoga of Sound).

When combining crystals and Japa meditation, I started to shift vibrational blocks at all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Japa meditation is when we use a mala or necklace of 108 beads and we chant out loud a Sanskrit mantra as we roll each bead between our fingers. This meditation practice proved so powerful that Satya Malas was born!

How do crystals work?

All living things have an electromagnetic field (EMF), which interacts with the EMF of other living things. When we bring a crystal into our electromagnetic field, two things occur. The electromagnetic frequencies carried by the stone will vibrate with related frequencies in our own energy field through the physical law of resonance, creating a third larger vibration field. The nervous system is attuned to these shifts in energy and transmits this information to the brain. Here the frequencies stimulate biochemical shifts that affect the physical body and shift brain function.

So when you put on one of our beautiful malas, your body’s EMF is raised and balanced to match the new vibrational field created. Physically you feel better, emotionally your mood is uplifted and you can keep this elevated feeling of wellbeing with you while you wear and work with the mala.

How does mantra (Naad Yoga) work?

Mantras are repetitive sounds used to penetrate the depths of the unconscious mind and adjust the vibration of all aspects of your being. As we chant these ancient Sanskrit words we start to resonate with their healing intention.

How is each mala created?

Over the years of teaching yoga I am very aware of common problems that plague many of my students: fear of change, fear of speaking your truth, poverty consciousness, creative blocks, blocks in your femininity, inability to forgive those who have hurt us deeply and so the list goes on. I decide on what we would like to heal and I collaborate with Satya as to the best crystals to effect what we are trying to achieve. Each mala is unique and the crystals are carefully chosen to vibrate at a certain frequency which can enable healing of the physical body, healing from emotional wounds, effecting forgiveness and releasing past memories and trauma. Together with perhaps helping the student find clarity of purpose and to give the student the courage and energy to manifest change and move forward in his or her life.

Satya sources these exquisite crystal beads which energetically match the unique healing requirements for the mala. We source only from reputable Australian suppliers and the crystals are then cleansed and smudged. They are charged with moonlight and sunlight (Ha – sun, masculine, yang and Tha – moon, feminine, yin), and blessed with Reiki symbols. Eventually a collaboration of colour and energy is effected and you have a Satya Mala! The perfect chant or mantra is found for the purpose of the mala, and the mala is matched to a Vedic Goddess who embodies everything we wish to manifest with that particular mala. You now have a beautiful, powerful tool to shift your world!

Wear your mala during meditation, performing japa meditation, during yoga practice, out to dinner to look gorgeous and tuck it under your pillow at night to guarantee sweet dreams. I hope you love them as much as we do!

Love and Namaste, Margot and Satya
